Introducing the new way to get confirmed for a shift: Invited Shifts. Facilities can now invite individual nurses to a single shift or a group of shifts.
How will I be notified that I have been invited to a shift?
When you are invited to a shift you will receive a push notification if you are outside the app, or an in-app notification if you're in the app. You will then be able to click on that notification and it will redirect you to the "INVITED" tab in the "MY SHIFTS" screen. You can also navigate to the "INVITED" tab in the "MY SHIFTS" screen through the app.
In the "INVITED" tab, you can see all the shifts you have been invited to, along with how soon the invitation will be expiring. This list is automatically sorted by expiry time: soonest to latest.
How do I accept or refuse an Invited Shift?
To accept or refuse an Invited Shift, swipe left on the shift to reveal the "Refuse Invite" and "Accept Invite" buttons. If you accept the shift, you will see a pop up that confirms you have booked the shift. The shift will also appear in the "CONFIRMED" tab of the "MY SHIFTS" screen.
If you select "Refuse Invite," a pop up will appear asking you why you are refusing the shift. Your reasoning WILL NOT be shared with the facility.
What if the shift is starting in less than three hours?
Once you accept a shift starting in less than three hours, you will see a pop up that encourages you to chat with a facility to notify them you may be late.
What if the shift has already started?
For last minute shifts, which start less than 12 hours from the time of creation, the shift will expire a quarter-way through the shift. You will be able to view and accept or refuse the shift up until a quarter-way through it.
If you accept a shift that has already started, you will not automatically be booked. Instead, you will see a pop up, notifying you that the shift has already started, and you should only accept the shift if you can clock in. If you do accept the shift but do not clock in, you will be marked as a NCNS (No Call No Show) and your account may be suspended.
Do Invited Shifts expire?
You do have a limited time to accept or refuse an Invited Shift. Your invitation will expire 12 hours after the shift is created.
Who can be invited to a shift?
To be invited to a shift at any facility, you need to meet two criteria:
You must have previously applied to a shift at that facility.
AND
2. You cannot be suspended or be marked as DNR (Do Not Return) at that facility.
Why are some shifts unavailable?
There are three reasons why an Invited Shift might be unavailable:
Overworking
If an Invited Shift would put you over 18.5 hours of consecutive confirmed shifts for that day, you will be prevented from accepting that shift.
Overlapping
An invited shift could be unavailable to you if that shift overlaps with an already confirmed shift by more than one minute.
Overtime
You can work overtime with ESHYFT, and you can do so with Invited Shifts if the facility has overtime enabled. If the facility does not have overtime enabled, you will not be able to accept the invited shift if it would put you into overtime that week.
If the shift is unavailable due to one of these reasons, it will be marked accordingly in the "INVITED" tab.
